J’anime un workshop le 21 et 22 juillet à Paris avec le fameux photographe Eric Kim…venez nombreux!! (ce sera en anglais)
Have you ever walked on the streets and saw a moment that you wanted to capture, but you were too scared to take the photograph? Do you want to become more confident shooting in the streets and learn how to better interact with your subjects? Do you want to be able to show your work in a unique way that separates you from your peers?
If you are an beginner or intermediate street photographer and want to conquer your fear of shooting in the streets or looking to develop your own unique shooting style, this workshop, hosted by street and documentary photographer, Ludovic Maillard, is for you. Through this dynamic hands-on 2-day workshop you will get to learn:
- How to get over the fear of shooting street photography
- How to best approach your subjects without scaring them
- How to shoot candid images without anybody noticing you
- How to tell a story with your photos
- How to turn your photos into projects, a portfolio, and then a distinct style
- The best technical settings to use in street photography
- How to react to people who get offended by street photography
- How to capture “The Decisive Moment“
- What techniques are used for taking great street photographs
- How to create memorable and timeless images
What we will cover
On Saturday, you will get the chance to learn the fundamentals of street photography; what makes a great image, how to approach strangers, how to be invisible, and how to use optimal camera settings to capture decisive moments. Ludovic will discuss how to then turn projects into portfolios and then into a distinct personal style.
You will have the opportunity to apply what you learned through an accompanied on-the-street photography assignment. the assignment will allow you to interact with strangers, how to anticipate compelling images, and to think more succinctly about shooting one type of project.
On Sunday morning you will meet early to capture Paris awakening. After a full morning of shooting, you will edit your images to find the best three images of the two days. After a brief introduction to Lightroom 4 and Silver EFex Pro 2, you will have the chance to process your select images. There will be extensive discussion on each of the selected images with instruction on how you can improve your craft by both Ludovic and the rest of the workshop participants.
Although street photography can be intimidating, this workshop will teach you the practical skills on how to become more courageous and bold. You will learn how to capture “the beauty in the mundane” through candid images of people in their ordinary environments. Street photography is a wonderful craft, and this workshop will be helpful for those who want to get their feet wet!
What you will get out of this workshop
After attending this workshop, many past participants have built their confidence shooting in the streets, learned how to get closer to people, can identify great street photography opportunities, and have kept in touch with one another. This is not just a street photography workshop. It is a chance to build a community of friends and passionate street photographers that will last far after the workshop is over.
